Fabrication Engineering tuyeres have been designed for high-performance in your AOD vessel. Our patented calibrated design reduces the rapid increase in flow at a set shroud pressure as the tuyeres decrease in length with
lining wear. The Fabrication Engineering tuyere will provide the same flow at full length as standard tuyeres but
controls the rapid increase in ow after given pressure as the tuyere wears to provide more uniform shroud cooling
gas flowdistribution in multiple tuyere vessels.
A sturdy outer wall coupling piece provides rm support to lock the tuyere into the vessel shell. This heavy wall
provides a good surface for a strong, secure connection between the tuyere and the vessel to help assure reliable inservice operation.
The inner tube is swaged over a mandrel to provide a uniform diameter for metering the process gas. Swaging holds
the diameter to very close tolerances (±0.002 in or better) for the precise metering required to assure good process
control and high-quality product.
The outer tube is made from 304 stainless, providing high-temperature strength. The stainless steel tube is welded to
the nut, which is threaded into the heavy wall coupling and seal welded for joint integrity. The assembly is mandrel
sized to ±0.002 in for precision shroud metering.
When you choose Fabrication Engineering tuyeres, you are assured the design will be consistent with our latest
developments in AOD process technology. Special designs are available to suit customers needs.
ORDERING INFORMATION
To make it easier to order the correct tuyere for your vessel, the larger size tuyeres (sizes A, B, C, D, and E) are all 26 in (660
mm) long. This makes them suitable for the thickest typical refractory wall, and they can be trimmed to t thinner walls. In
addition to the stock sizes, other dimensions can be obtained by special order (minimum lead time on special orders is 14
days).
Sizes are designated by the inside diameter of the inner tube and by the length from the coupling to the end of the outer
tube. All standard-sized tuyeres listed below have argon/oxygen connection and shroud gas connections with female threads, except for the 5/8 x 26 in "E" size, which uses 1 1/4 in x 11 1/2 NPT.
